Rhydygors was a timber castle near Llangunnor. This castle was built on a bluff above the river at Carmarthen by William fitz Baldwin in the late 11th century, and was an important center for the Norman invasion and subsequent control of southwest Wales. It was eventually replaced by a more modern stone castle at Carmarthen.
